The next day, it\u2019s dead. A few days later, it\u2019s back thanks to workarounds. Then, Apple kills it again. Beeper CEO, Eric Migicovsky announced this week that they are done with the cat and mouse game with Apple, essentially calling it quits on their effort to bring iMessage to Android.<\/p>\n<p>Calling it iMessage on Android is a bit of a disservice to the actual goal of the feature. In reality, what Beeper Mini did was upgrade the experience between iPhones and Android for both users. As explained, the goal of the app was and is to, \u201cupgrade chats between iPhone and Android users from unencrypted green bubble SMS to encrypted, fully featured blue bubble chats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why does Apple hate that so much? Probably money, but instead of saying that, they opt for corp speech instead, citing things such as \u201cuser privacy\u201d and \u201cexploitations.\u201d Beeper has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.beeper.com\/p\/beeper-moving-forward\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">answers<\/a> to all of Apple\u2019s ridiculous claims, but alas, this is Apple we\u2019re talking about. They do things differently.<\/p>\n<p>If you were someone who has been following this story, it appears we\u2019ve reached the end. While some people didn\u2019t seem to understand why Beeper Mini was awesome, many of us did. But hey, we have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.droid-life.com\/2023\/11\/16\/apple-says-it-will-support-rcs-in-imessage-in-2024\/\">Apple supporting RCS next year<\/a>, so that\u2019s something to look forward to. *eye roll*<\/p>\n<p>\/\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.beeper.com\/p\/beeper-moving-forward\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beeper<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One day not so long ago, iMessage on Android is working thanks to Beeper Mini.
